“Developing our next generation of leaders starts with nurturing a talent pipeline and training our people to be ready for these roles, their future opportunities and challenges. Products change. Micro-situations change. The sector is constantly disrupted. Investing in our people and encouraging a supportive, cohesive work environment will always remain vital to ensure long-term shared success for our business, our people and our clients.”

—Johnathan Tay, Human Capital Leader, PwC Singapore

In the age of artificial intelligence (AI), PwC Singapore believes a company's competitive edge lies in its people. It nurtures talent and creates opportunities for employees to develop technical, leadership and human skills, while placing great emphasis on building connections among colleagues. The following are some of PwC Singapore's flagship talent programmes and practices that reflect “Grow here. Go further.” – the organisation's commitment to employee development:

Long-standing coaching culture:

Every PwC Singapore employee is paired with a senior colleague as their personal career coach — someone who is a professional in the same field and has experienced their coachees' growth journey. Now supported with a new AI coaching tool, coaches can role-play conversations with different personas to strengthen their coaching and mentoring skills. Regardless of seniority, employees learn from their coaches' experience in navigating client projects and overcoming challenges. First-year associates also pick up PwC's corporate norms and expectations. During performance reviews, or when new client opportunities arise, coaches advocate learning and industry exposure for their coachees. As employees take on the roles of coaches and coachees over time, this culture fosters a strong sense of togetherness across the organisation.

Transparent career progression:

All PwC employees are assessed against a professional framework that guides their development from the day they join. It includes six criteria, such as “inspire” and “deliver”, which outline expected behaviours at every level of the organisation. Additionally, the assessments are calibrated through roundtable deliberations among managers, who consider the nuances and characteristics of the projects their employees have handled. This minimises subjectivity in performance reviews and ensures employees receive fair assessments.

Stackable leadership curricula:

PwC Singapore runs a Star Leadership Programme for recently promoted employees to train them to become strategic, trusted, agile and respectful leaders. It partners with a leading local university to provide the training and certification, and the programme is being expanded following a two-year pilot.
